___Shoes got Texas Baptists' feet in the door for ministry in Mexico.
___In Ethiopia, shoes became the first step to a Christian witness by Texas Baptists.
___And in China, shoes have been a light unto the path of the gospel.
___All these shoes have been collected and distributed through Shoes for Orphan Souls, an annual ministry project of Buckner Orphan Care International.

BGCT leaders denounce Baptist Press report, Moran's influence

___Wade, BGCT executive director, made emotional comments about an article that ran the previous day in Baptist Press, the public relations arm of the Southern Baptist Convention's Executive Committee.

Missions study gets favorable reception

___DALLAS--The report of a Texas committee studying missions-sending agencies received enthusiastic support from the Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Board May 22.
___The Executive Board affirmed the study committee's 21-page report, which notes six concerns about the Southern Baptist Convention's International Mission Board and six concerns about the SBC's North American Mission Board.

Texas native resigns as IMB regional leader rather than sign BF&M
___RICHMOND, Va. --Native Texan Bill Phillips has resigned as regional leader for International Mission Board work in West Africa rather than sign the 2000 version of the Baptist Faith & Message as required by IMB trustees.
___Phillips and his wife, MaryDean, will continue as IMB missionaries even though stepping down from the administrative position. IMB missionaries hired before the change are not required to sign the doctrinal statement. The Phillipses were first appointed missionaries in 1978.
