Eight of 11 SBC nominees are from SBTC

___NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Eight of 11 Texans nominated this year for service as trustees of Southern Baptist Convention institutions are members of churches that are either uniquely are dually aligned with the new Southern Baptists of Texas Convention.
___That means 72 percent of the Texas nominees are from churches that have aligned with the SBTC, created as an ultra-conservative alternative to the BGCT. By comparison, for the first six months of the SBC's current fiscal year, 82 percent of undesignated Cooperative Program money sent to the SBC from Texas has come from the BGCT, while only 18 percent has come through SBTC.
___Texans nominated for SBC service by this year's SBC committee on nominations are:
___bluebull Gary Smith, pastor of Fielder Road Baptist Church in Arlington, nominated for second term on the SBC Executive Committee. Fielder Road is uniquely aligned with the BGCT.
___bluebull Mike Smith, director of missions for Dogwood Trails Area in East Texas and member of Central Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Texas, replacing Cal Guy of Burleson on the International Mission Board. Central Baptist is uniquely aligned with the BGCT, although Smith previously served on an SBTC committee.
___bluebull Hal Kinkeade II, pastor of First Baptist Church of Springtown, nominated to a second term on the IMB. First Baptist is dually aligned with BGCT and SBTC.
___bluebull Eral Sutton, layperson and member of Spring Memorial Baptist Church in Spring, replacing Danny Souder of Dallas on the North American Mission Board. Spring Memorial is uniquely aligned with SBTC.
___bluebull Jeff Shirley, layperson and member of First Baptist Church of Rockwall, replacing Bill Streich of Wichita Falls on NAMB. First Baptist is dually aligned.
___bluebull William Jewell Davis Sr., a layman from Southcrest Baptist Church of Lubbock, nominated for a second term on the board of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Southcrest is uniquely aligned with the BGCT, although some members of the church have been instrumental in founding SBTC.
___bluebull Matthew McKellar, pastor of Sylvania Baptist Church of Tyler, nominated for a second term on Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary's board. Sylvania is dually aligned.
___bluebull David Galvan, senior pastor of Primera Iglesia Bautista Nueva Vida of Garland, nominated for a second term on Southwestern Seminary's board. Primera is uniquely aligned with SBTC.
___bluebull Gregg Simmons, pastor of First Baptist Church of Borger, replacing Jim Dickson of Corsicana on the board of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. First Baptist is dually aligned.
___bluebull Ron Cherry, layperson and member of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, to the board of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Prestonwood is dually aligned.
___bluebull Kenneth Carpenter, layperson and member of First Baptist Church of Waskom, replacing Cactus Cagle of Houston on the board of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. First Baptist is uniquely aligned with SBTC.
