12 with Texas connections chosen to serve with IMB
___Twelve people with Texas ties were among the 53 appointees recently named by the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.

The Blackstens

___Sean and Shelley Blacksten will use drama and music to form contacts and relationships among the people in the former East Germany. They will then seek to start cell groups and train leadership for the groups. They have worked in western Germany since 1999 with International Service Corps. Prior to that, he had been pastor of Celebration Fellowship Church in Fort Worth. They consider Paramount Church in Amarillo as also influential in their spiritual growth. They have two children, Shalyn and Shaphan.

Caperton

___Andy Caperton will work among the Mapuche people of Chile and Argentina as he conducts general evangelism. He has served in Chile since 1999 with the ISC. He is a member of Birchman Church in Fort Worth.

Christian

___David Christian will serve as a media strategist for the Western Pacific region. He will live in Korea and work with various mission teams to develop a comprehensive media strategy for initiating church-planting movements there. He also will help develop advocacy materials for the many people groups throughout the region. Since 1998, he has worked in Kazakhstan with the ISC. He is a member of Green Acres Church in Tyler. Birchman Church in Fort Worth also has been influential in his life.

The Hamlines

___Phil and Helaine Hamline will serve among blue-collar workers in South Korea, conducting evangelism on Cheju Island. Influential churches have included First Church in Seminole, College Hills Church in San Angelo and First Church in Knott. He previously served in Korea with the U.S. Army and she as a teacher through the Journeyman program. They have four children, Paul, John, Andrew and Matthew.

serve as urban church strategists in Bangkok, Thailand. Lapos will coordinate evangelism for the Baptist Student Center's English Language Center while she participates in home outreach. He previously served in East Asia with the ISC. They count First Church in Houston as influential in their spiritual growth. They have one child, Hannah.

The Moores

leader for the mission team there that is seeking to reach 1.6 million people. She will participate in church and home evangelism. Since 1990, he has been minister of music and senior adults at Southwest Church in DeSoto. He previously served Calvary Church in Dallas and First Church of Marlin. They also consider Jonesboro Church in Jonesboro and Cliff Temple Church in Dallas as influential in their spiritual growth. They have three children, Jamie, Melodie and Joey.

The Wagstaffs

___Bob and Diane Wagstaff will help to develop a church-planting team in a region of Romania. The team also will work with a major university in the city of Craiova. Since 2000, Wagstaff has been interim pastor of Langwood Church in Houston. They previously taught at a Christian school in Romania as missionaries with First Church in Houston. They are member of Mims Church in Conroe. They also consider First Church in Madisonville, First Church in Houston and Southside Church in Conroe as influential in their spiritual growth. They have two grown children, John and James.
