___ Sullivan to receive Dodd Award. Former Sunday School Board President James L. Sullivan has been named the recipient of this year's M.E. Dodd Cooperative Program Award. The award recognizes a minister, layman, church or institution with a long history of support for the Southern Baptist Cooperative Program unified budget. Sullivan served as president of the Sunday School Board from 1953 to 1975. He also was president of the Southern Baptist Convention in 1977 and has written seven books. The award is named for Dodd, longtime pastor of First Baptist Church in Shreveport, La. Dodd chaired the Future Program Commission, which recommended to the 1925 Southern Baptist Convention that it create the Cooperative Program.
___ Graham aide Wilson dies. T. W. Wilson, evangelist Billy Graham's longtime executive assistant, died unexpectedly May 25 near his home in Asheville, N.C. Wilson, 82, was a close lifelong friend of Graham and served as an associate evangelist in the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. He was an ordained Southern Baptist minister and served as pastor of Baptist churches in Alabama and Georgia before becoming vice president of Youth for Christ International. Wilson preached throughout the United States and many foreign countries before becoming an associate evangelist with the Graham association.
___ New England picks Wideman. James Wideman has been named executive director of the Baptist Convention of New England. He was director of missions for the Green Mountain Baptist Association, which covers Vermont. He began his new position June 1. He is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, where he served as a home mission intern in Tarrant County and as an interim youth director at Broadway Baptist Church. He also was an interim pastor and director of counseling and community services for Waco Baptist Association.
___ Graham releases comedy. "The Road to Redemption," the first comedy produced by Billy Graham's World Wide Pictures, is being released on prime-time television, video and DVD this week. The video is set on the road between Las Vegas and Redemptioin, Mont., and is described as "a modern-day comedy about trusting a relative stranger."
