Census figures sum up change for U.S. family
___NASHVILLE (ABP)--America continues to shift away from the "Ozzie and Harriet" family model of the 1950s, according to the 2000 census figures.
___The changing face of the American household shows fewer traditional families, more homes comprised of unmarried partners and an increase in the number of children living with single parents.
___Fewer than one-fourth (23.5 percent) of American households now are traditional nuclear families--families comprised of married couples with their children. The figure dropped from 25.6 percent in 1990. In 1960, it was 45 percent.

___The Baptist General Convention of Texas' Integrity Committee has written the Ninth Commandment on newsprint, not stone.
___"Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness Against Thy Neighbor" appeared in full-page advertisements May 27 in the newspapers of three Texas cities--Amarillo, Lubbock and Tyler.
___It is part of an ad campaign to counter false information being spread about the BGCT.

Presbyterians overturn ban on same-sex ceremonies
___LOUISVILLE, Ky. (RNS)--A proposed rule that would bar ministers in the Presbyterian Church (USA) from performing same-sex union ceremonies has been defeated by the denomination's presbyteries, or regional bodies.
___It is the second time in seven years the church has rejected the effort to place an ironclad ban on same-sex unions in the church's Book of Order, its constitution.
