___ Hispanic women to anchor souls. "Anchor for the Soul" will be the theme for the seventh annual Celebrating the Hispanic Woman conference at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth July 13-14. Keynote speakers will be Sandra Cisneros, a pastor's wife and conference leader from Victoria, and Neli Gonzalez, a conference leader from South Houston. The conference will feature small-group seminars, most in Spanish and English, on a variety of family topics. The conference will begin at 8 a.m. July 13 and conclude at 1:30 p.m. July 14. Registration, including a Friday night banquet, is $35 before July 9. ___ BGCT hotel rooms available. Hotel reservations for the Baptist General Convention of Texas annual session in Dallas Oct. 29-30 may be made beginning at 8:30 a.m. Monday, June 18. Convention President Clyde Glazener is sending a letter to all BGCT churches, providing information on the hotels and how to make reservations.
___ International Crusades seeks leader. International Crusades, a 25-year-old ministry launched by West Texas Baptist ranchers to transport River Ministry-type missions to other countries, has launched a search for a successor to President Gary Baird. The organization enables laypeople to work beside Southern Baptist missionaries. ___ ETBU receives $125,000. Maj. Gen. and Mrs. Vernon Lewis have donated $100,000 to East Texas Baptist University to establish an endowed scholarship fund, with preference given to minority students. An anonymous graduate also gave $25,000 for an annual scholarship.
___ Texans earn Midwestern degrees. Todd Fisher, a native of Fort Worth who grew up attending North Fort Worth Baptist Church and now is a pastor in Oklahoma City, received the doctor of ministry degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Bryan Hutchings of Texarkana, a former member of Everett Baptist Church in Hooks, received the master of arts in Christian education degree.
