Around the state
___bluebull George Garner has become the national missionary for rural church planting with the North American Mission Board. A native of Texarkana, he has served as a church planter missionary and director of missions of Platte Valley Association since his 1984 appointment by NAMB. As a part of the appointment to the newly created position, he will be relocating to Douglassville, Ga. Prior to his appointment, he was a pastor in Davilla and Denton and Seagoville. He also served with the Texas Baptist Men as a lay renewal coordinator.

___Deaths
___bluebull Coleman Turner, 80, July 4 in Harper. A retired pastor, he served churches in Kempner, Comstock, Pumpville, Brazos, Langtry, Mont Belvieu, San Perlita, Santa Rosa, Gregory, Sabinal, Llano, La Pryor, Krum and Harper. After his retirement in 1984, he served several Medina River Association churches as interim pastor. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ruby, and his son, Bert. He is survived by his daughter, Flo Ann Langley; brother, Howard; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
___bluebull Glennis McCrary Goodrich, 92, July 7 in Tyler. Goodrich, an alumna and benefactress of Baylor University, also served as captain of the Baylor women's football team, the first co-educational football team in the world, while a student in the late 1920s. She provided most of the funds for the Glennis McCrary Music Building, which opened in 1993 and houses a room filled with her collections of art, Doughty birds, crystal and antiques. She also contributed to the Armstrong Browning Library and endowed a scholarship that annually provides financial support to 20 or more Baylor music students. She was preceded in death by her husband, Baxter.
___bluebull Peyton Moore, 70, July 9 in Arlington. Moore, a former pastor, was a retired director of missions for Golden Triangle Association and had been serving on the staff of Lamar Church in Arlington. He also had served as a missionary. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Celia; sons, Terry and Greg; daughter, Celia Anne Wooford; six grandchildren; and brothers, Edd and Jim.

___Retiring
___bluebull Walter Rose as pastor of Osage Church in Gatesville. He and his wife, Jean, will be doing mission work in Showlow, Ariz.
