___ Horn to lead Texas CBF. Kerry Horn, pastor of First Baptist Church of Covington, has been named moderator of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship in Texas.
___ Five Texans graduate from New Orleans. New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary awarded degrees to five Texans this spring. Lyle Gill Agnew of Tyler and Jerry Feagin of Longview earned the bachelor of arts degree in pastoral ministries. Judy Baker of Tomball earned the women's ministry certificate. Ben Bond of Dallas earned the doctor of ministry degree in pastoral ministries. Danny Nance of Paris earned the doctor of philosophy degree in theology.
___ DBU honors Shellenbergers. Dallas Baptist University has dedicated its newest Max Greiner sculpture, "The Great Commission," to Charles and Dorothy Shellenberger of Waco. The Shellenbergers have been active in many aspects of Texas Baptist life, including service on DBU's trustee board and the Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Board.
___ HSU names music faculty. Two new faculty members have been employed by the Hardin-Simmons University School of Music. Peter Isaacson of Lexington, Ky., will be instructor of violin and orchestra conductor. Clell Wright Jr. of Wildwood, Mo., will be instructor of church music.
___ Buckner sends shoes to Houston. More than 1,000 pairs of new shoes destined for orphan children overseas have been rerouted to children living in the flood-ravaged regions around Houston. Tiffany Taylor, director of Buckner Orphan Care International's Shoes for Orphan Souls program, said sharing the donated shoes with needy Texans is "the right thing to do." The shoes were drawn from early donations to this year's drive, which begins in earnest in August.
___ Bible museum reopens. After extensive renovations, the Bible in America Museum has reopened on the campus of Houston Baptist University. The museum houses the most extensive collection of rare American Bibles assembled anywhere other than the American Bible Society in New York City. The collection contains more than 500 items, including the only known existing copy of a 1780 New Testament that is the earliest example of any printing of the Scriptures in English in the United States. The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship in Texas plans a regional gathering at First Baptist Church of Abilene July 16 at 7 p.m. The program will include a missionary speaker, reports on CBF work in Texas and dialogue with Texas CBF Coordinators Dan and Barbara Kent. ___ Wayland names development director. Martha Cross has been named director of development for Wayland Baptist University's Plainview campus. She is a graduate of Plainview High School, Texas Tech University and Wayland. She has been active in the First Baptist Church of Plainview and is a member of the Texas WMU executive board.
