___ DBU promotes Blackburn. Blair Blackburn has been named senior vice president of Dallas Baptist University. He first joined DBU in 1995 as interim director of transfer admissions and has filled the role of senior vice president of administration since January. His new responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the university--including athletics, construction, financial aid, food service, security and grounds, and physical operations.
___ Standard's phone lines down. Callers to the Baptist Standard Aug. 8 and 9 were not able to get through due to phone lines being cut outside the Standard's office building. Some calls apparently were routed to a voice mailbox not accessible to the Standard staff. Any callers suspecting they might have left a message that was not received should call back this week. ___ Tickets available for Reno at Baylor. Tickets for Janet Reno's Sept. 13 speech at Baylor University will go on sale Aug. 20. Reno, former U.S. attorney general, is scheduled to speak at the university's Ferrell Center as part of the President's Forum series. Tickets are $25 for floor seats, $15 for the lower arena and $10 for the upper arena. Tickets are available through the Baylor ticket office, (254) 710-3210.
