___ New Kentucky seminary names president. Baptist Seminary of Kentucky, a moderate seminary that has been in the planning stages for several years, has named its first president. Trustees elected Greg Earwood, pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Georgetown, Ky., as president July 16. The proposed seminary was incorporated in the mid-1990s in response to the conservative shift at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville. Earwood has served since 1998 as chairman of a committee to give direction to the seminary's future. No launch date for classes or other details about curriculum or faculty have been announced.
___ CBF missionaries evacuate. Six members of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship's Albanian team--all Texans--arrived safely in Greece last weekend after evacuation from Macedonia. Three couples--Arville and Shelia Earl, Darrell and Kathy Smith, and Martha and Rick Shaw--left the Balkan nation due to expected violence in the capital city of Skopje and surrounding areas. The CBF missionaries hope their stay in Greece will be short, but that depends on the implementation of a peace agreement signed last week between the Macedonian government and ethnic Albanian rebels.
