Philip is a visiting professor of business administration. In the physical education department, Veronica Snow is a visiting instructor and Ray Galloway an assistant professor. Tim Chandler joins the faculty as an assistant professor in communication. Hye-Jean Choi is an instructor of organ for the School of Music. Sue Lucas is an assistant professor in the psychology department and will serve as director of the family psychology program.
___Retiring
___ Jerold McBride, Aug. 31, after more than 30 years as pastor of First Church in San Angelo and more than 50 years in the ministry. He also served Calvary Church in Breckenridge, Southside Church in Palestine, two Oklahoma churches and was director of evangelism for the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma.

___ Speaker and author Duane Miller will be at First Church in Bellaire Oct. 14 at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Although diagnosed with severe and permanent nerve damage to his vocal chords in 1990, he was still able to speak in a breathy whisper. ___Deaths
___ Paris Barton, 81, July 8 in Haskell. Barton was pastor at churches in Lamesa, Wink, Lubbock and Big Spring. He served as moderator of Haskell-Knox Association, as chairman of the area board for Double Mountain Area and on the executive board of Big Country Baptist Assembly. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Fannie May; daughter, Sharon Derrick; sisters, Violet Helms and Virginia Eaton; brother, Lou; and two grandchildren.
___ Miriam Willis, 87, Sept. 5. An emeritus Southern Baptist missionary, she was appointed in 1943 to serve in Argentina, where she directed a Baptist home for nurses. She helped begin Baptist medical work in Paraguay with a clinic held under a shade tree. In 1954, she left nursing to teach and lead a Baptist primary school. In 1968, she joined the staff of the Baptist hospital in Gaza. Two years later, she transferred to Yemen, where she worked at the hospital and taught at a girls' school. She retired in 1979.
___ Edna Allen, 92, Sept. 7 in Dallas. She was the widow of pastor Earl Allen who served churches in Dallas, Sulphur Springs, Celeste and Independence. She was a leader in Woman's Missionary Union, active in establishing church libraries and assisted her husband in creating the Texas Baptist Historical Center in Independence. She is survived by her son, Jimmy; three grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
