___ HBTS sets youth leadership summit. "The Call to Ministry" will be the theme for the 2002 Youth Leadership Summit at Hispanic Baptist Theological School in San Antonio Nov. 15-16. Keynote addresses will focus on spiritual warfare and purity, the search for peace and the biblical basis for leadership, and small-group seminars will explore a range of leadership topics. Cost is $100, and registration is $20, but full scholarships including hotel accommodations will be awarded to the first 140 confirmed reservations. Scholarships for 50 percent of the cost will be awarded to parents and youth leaders. Make checks payable to HBTS and mail to Hispanic Baptist Theological School, Attn.: YLS, 8019 S. ___ Wayland musicians heading to Spain. Instrumentalists, choirs, ensembles and handbell performers from Wayland Baptist University will participate in a mission trip to Spain next May. The venture is part of the joint effort of the Baptist General Convention of Texas' Texas Partnerships Resource Center and the Spanish Baptist Union, which has been a key focus of several groups within the Caprock Plains Baptist Association. The trip is open to Wayland alumni and other Texas Baptists, said Robert Black, assistant professor of music. The trip is expected to cost $2,000, with a down payment of $350 due by Nov. 1. ___ San Antonio honors Southwestern. The city of San Antonio recognized Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary's contribution to the community in an official proclamation Oct. 7, as the seminary celebrated the 25th anniversary of its San Antonio extension at Parkhills Baptist Church. The proclamation noted the seminary has provided and continues to provide "local students with outstanding facilities in which to engage in ministerial education."
___ Prayer day to key on reconciliation. "God's Call to Reconciliation" will be the theme for the day of prayer for world spiritual needs Nov. 4. Baptists in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex will observe the event at The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Child care is available by reservation. ___ Houston's Second offers virtual tour. Second Baptist Church of Houston offers prospects and new members a virtual reality tour of its two campuses, designed to bring the 32,000-member congregation down to size. Envisioned by Pastor of Technology David Drinnon, the 360-degree photographic tour highlights teen "hangouts," Bible study classes, workout facilities and the 6,000-seat worship center.
___ Correction. Due to incorrect information received by the Standard, the Oct. 14 paper reported First Baptist Church of Muskogee, Okla., has affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. While First Baptist Church has contributed to the BGCT's World Hunger Offering, the church has not contributed to the Cooperative Program unified budget or asked to affiliate with the BGCT or sent messengers to the BGCT annual session.
