Kelley College of Business endowed
at Hardin-Simmons by Houston couple

___ABILENE--The business school at Hardin-Simmons University has a new name and an endowed future, thanks to a major gift from Doyle and Inez Kelley of Houston.
___The new name--Kelley College of Business--was announced by university Presidsent Craig Turner Oct. 11.
___Donation of the major permanent endowment was given as a tribute to the Kelleys' parents, Robert Kelley and Nora Ann Stinnett Kelley, and Floyd Tucker and Zula Florence Morris Tucker. Both families were successful small-business operators.
___"We are thankful that God has given us this opportunity, and we recognize our obligation to serve him with our lives and the resources he has entrusted to us," said Doyle Kelley. "We feel God is doing great things at HSU and make this prayerful decision with a sense of peace and fulfillment in the direction he has led."
___Jimmie Monhollon, dean of the business school, lauded the donors for their vision.
___"Such an endowment is rare, and I am honored to have played a small part in this permanent naming endowment. It will have tremendous impact on our mission of Christian higher education as it relates to business," he said. "The Kelley College of Business will serve future generations of business students by providing them with the highest academic and ethical standards of business education. I give thanks for the divine leadership that has led us to this occasion."
___The exact amount of the gift was not reported, but Turner characterized it as a "multimillion dollar contribution."
___It is the second-largest endowment gift in HSU's history, exceeded only by the gift from Koreen Logsdon, since deceased, and her late husband, Charles Logsdon, in 1982 which made possible the Logsdon School of Theology and its classrooms and chapel.
___The Kelleys met while both were students at HSU. He attended on a Cowboy Band scholarship. He is a 1951 graduate and former member and past chairman of the board of trustees. Mrs. Kelley currently serves as a trustees and is a member of the advancement committee.
