___Anniversaries
___ Marion Martin, 10th, as pastor of MacArthur Heights Church in Orange, Nov. 24.
___ Lee Rickaway, fifth, as minister of education at First Church in Duncanville, Dec. 1.

FIRST CHURCH in Coleman recently recognized three members for a combined 97 years of perfect Sunday School attendance. Leading the group was Music Minister Bob Sartain, who has completed 52 years of perfect Sunday School attendance. Pictured to his left is his wife and pianist, Jan, who has not missed Sunday School in more than 22 years. Choir member Betty McClellan has gone 23 years without a Sunday missed.
___Retiring
___ Ken Goad, as director of missions for Enon Association. Prior to his 10 years serving the association, he was a missionary to Vietnam, served as business administrator at First Church in Texarkana for 10 years and was pastor of Central Church in Mineral Springs. He will be honored with a reception at First Church in Atlanta from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 7.

___Deaths
___ Homer Peden Jr., 72, Oct. 6 in Burleson. He was pastor of churches in Wellington, Dallas and Arlington, as well as First Church in Alvarado, where he served 16 years. He also was a Southern Baptist missionary to the Philippines 10 years. He is survived by his wife, Jeannie; daughters, Jana Hunt and Karen Peden; son, Ken; brothers, Harlan, Charles and Jack; sister, Mary Beth Godfrey; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
___ L.V. Ratliff Jr., 81, Oct. 19 in Amarillo. He was a pastor of Texas churches for more than 45 years including First Church of Gresham in Tyler, Union Church in Snyder, First Church in Whitedeer, Highland Church in Amarillo and Sunrise Church in Amarillo, where he served 24 years. He also was a World War II veteran. He was a member of Paramount Church in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1948. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frances; son, Robert; daughters, Marilyn Simpson, Carolyn Evans and Janet Clifton; brother, William; sister, Flora Ann Buffo; and five grandchildren.
___ John Atkins, 44, in Hawaii Oct. 23. An Army chaplain, Atkins died after sustaining a heart attack while jogging at the Kunia Regional Security Operations Center during service with the 115th Military Intelligence Group. In addition to Hawaii, he had served in Washington, South Carolina and Colorado, as well as Southwest Asia and Germany. He is a native of Floresville. He is survived by his wife, Kim; children, Luke, Charis and Micah; sister, Marjorie Georg; and brothers, Robert and Bill.
___ Elton Hinze, 84, in Fort Worth Oct. 26. He was ordained at First Church in Brownwood. He was pastor of a number of churches including Springdale Church in Fort Worth from 1947 to 1955. He also was superintendent of direct missions for Tarrant Association until his retirement in 1982. He was named a distinguished alumnus of Howard Payne University in 1975. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Marcella. He is survived by his sons, Ron, Kenneth and Rick; and six grandchildren.
___ Charles Jones, 84, in Sulphur Springs Oct. 28. He began his music ministry in Georgia before moving to Cisco. He continued his ministry working with Wise County churches prior to teaching music, drama and speech from 1951 to 1965 at Decatur Baptist College, the precursor to Dallas Baptist University. After teaching for a year in Tennessee, he returned to DBU in the fall of 1966, retiring in 1983. He continued his music ministry after his retirement in South Carolina, prior to returning to Sulphur Springs in 1992. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Margaret. He is survived by his son, Chuck; daughter, Susan Childers; brother, Buck; sister, Mary Frances Roscoe; eight grandchildren; and three grandsons.
