Campbell, Camacho, Ferrier elected BGCT officers
___WACO--Bob Campbell was re-elected president of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, to serve alongside First Vice President Rudy Camacho and Second Vice President Debbie Ferrier.
___ All three top officers were elected without opposition during the BGCT annual session in Waco Nov. 11-12.
___ Messengers also elected BGCT Treasurer David Nabors as recording secretary, a position traditionally held by the treasurer. Nabors assumed the treasurer's role earlier this year.
___ Registration Secretary Irby Cox of Grand Prairie and Secretary of the Corporation Gene Greer of Dallas also were re-elected.
___ Campbell, pastor of Westbury Baptist Church in Houston, is a graduate of Louisiana College in Pineville, La., and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, where he earned both master's and doctoral degrees in theology.
___ He is a former professor of Bible and Greek at Howard Payne University and has been pastor of churches in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.
___ Camacho, immediate past president of the Hispanic Baptist Convention of Texas, is a deacon and missions committee member at Gambrell Street Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
___ A retired Postal Service employee, Camacho is a lay preacher who has aided Hispanic Baptist work across the state. He serves on the BGCT Executive Board and the Truett Seminary board of advisers. He is a trustee of Howard Payne University, his alma mater.
___ Ferrier, a longtime member of Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston, chaired this year's BGCT committee on nominations for institution boards and serves on the BGCT's Missions Review & Initiatives Committee. She is vice chair of the board of directors for the Texas Baptist Laity Institute, serves on the board of Hispanic Baptist Theological School and on the coordinating council of Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Texas.
