___ Wayland homecoming set. Wayland Baptist University's homecoming is planned for Nov. 22-23 with reunions, basketball games and theatrical productions. Graduates and former students from the class of 1952 will gather for their golden anniversary luncheon, while alumni from the classes of 1962, 1972, 1982 and 1992 will hold class reunions. Former members of Wayland recruiting groups also will participate in a reunion marking the 20th year of the student-led teams. A schedule of homecoming events may be accessed at www.wbu.edu.
___ Dunn delivers lectures at UMHB. James Dunn, president of the Baptist Joint Committee Endowment in Washington, D.C., and visiting professor of Christianity and public policy at Wake Forest University Divinity School, delivered the annual Staley Lectures at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. During a week on campus, he gave university lectures and spoke in many classes.
___ Shanes in concert at UMHB. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will present the Shanes in concert Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Walton Chapel. General admission is $8. The Shanes is a duo of Shane Barnard and Shane Everett, who perform Christian music in a coffeehouse style. They also lead weekly student worship at Texas A&M University's Breakaway Ministries. ___ ETBU open for preview. East Texas Baptist University will host "Shadow Day" Dec. 5-6. The preview event is designed for high school seniors and transfer students, who will have opportunity to experience campus life. The cost is $15, which includes housing, meals and a T-shirt. Dallas Baptist University's homecoming festivities are planned for Nov. 22-23, beginning with a Homecoming Extravaganza featuring humorist Bill Thorn and other talent Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. Other events include a Family Fall Festival and preview weekend for prospective students. ___ LifeWay store opens in Beaumont. A new LifeWay Christian Store in Beaumont will celebrate its grand opening Nov. 21 with a series of special promotions, including appearances by popular characters from "Veggie Tales" and "Little Dogs on the Prairie" videos. The store, which opens Nov. 20, will raise the number of LifeWay stores in Texas to 22. The new store is located at 4255 N. Dowlen Rd. at Parkdale Mall.
