___ Land gives "Southern Baptist" view on Iraq. Most Southern Baptists support President Bush's stance on Iraq, Richard Land said on National Public Radio's "On Point" program Nov. 15. ___ Christianity Today lauds Warren. Southern Baptist pastor Rick Warren appears on the cover of the Nov. 18 issue of Christianity Today above a headline stating he may be the most influential pastor in the country. The magazine's seven-page spread cites the influence of Warren's "Purpose-Driven" model, one that is used in churches around the globe. And it suggests that Warren's "regular guy" approach is not only non-threatening to pastors, it helps them to see the obvious. Warren, pastor of Saddleback Valley Church in Mission Viejo, Calif., has trained 180,000 pastors through his "Purpose-Driven Church" seminars, and his book of the same name has been a best-seller since its release in 1995.
___ Louisiana adopts BF&M 2000. Louisiana Baptists overwhelmingly voted in favor of adding the 2000 Baptist Faith & Message to their convention bylaws and affirmed the "inerrancy" of Scripture in the state constitution. Messengers to the Nov. 11-12 annual meeting in Bossier City gained the two-thirds majority needed to add the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 to the convention bylaws by a vote of 819-370. A constitutional amendment that states, "This convention will do all its work in accord with the principle that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant and infallible word of God" passed with 68.6 percent of the vote, 725-332.
