Baptist Scholarships

___Sixteen African-American university and seminary students recently were awarded Black Baptist Scholarships from the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
___Shalonda Katrina Willie of Terrell received a scholarship for Baylor University's Louise Herrington School of Nursing in Dallas, and Andrea Danielle Punch of DeSoto was awarded a scholarship for Baylor University in Waco.
___Jerry Jones of Irving received scholarship assistance to Dallas Baptist University.
___Houston Baptist University students receiving scholarships were Toni Davis of Sugar Land, D'Andrae Tyrone Wiggins of Richardson, and Quentin Michael Jackson, Aisha Monique Shepard and Nola Lucas of Houston.
___Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary students receiving scholarships were Charles LaVon Minor of Cedar Hill, Anita Harris of Arlington, Felicia Davies Bessman of Grapevine, Nafeesha Katrice Johnson and Valerie Denise Campbell of Fort Worth, and Christopher Keith Bartley, Kim Phillips-High and Perry James Miller of Houston.
___The Black Baptist Scholarships are funded through the Mary Hill Davis Offering for Texas missions, given each fall by members of more than 5,700 congregations affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
___During the past 34 years, Texas Baptists have invested more than $643,000 from the state missions offering in the education of more than 800 African-American students attending the eight BGCT-related universities and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
___In addition to the scholarships, the Mary Hill Davis Offering also assists Hispanic Baptist Theological School in San Antonio, provides funds for Asian and Hispanic student scholarships and supports a variety of missions and ministries around the state.
