___Events
___ Speegleville Church in Waco recently received a historical marker commemorating the church's 150 years of service. A dedication service was held Jan. 13.
___ Candleridge Community Church and McCart Meadows Community Church, both in Fort Worth, have combined to form Southwest Community Church. Randy Murray is pastor.
___Deaths
___ Monty Inman, 88, Jan. 2 in Houston. Inman was a Baptist minister for more than 65 years. Inman served Texas churches in Gena, Tennessee Valley, Oenaville, Houston, El Campo, Freer, Iago, Balmorhea and Fort Davis. After his retirement, he served as pastor emeritus of Third Church in Houston, where he began and completed his ministerial career. He was a member of South Main Church in Houston. He had served as a volunteer chaplain at Saint Luke's Hospital in Houston for the last 10 years. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; daughters, Jeanine Macey and Norma Sue Schmelling; sons, Stuart and Travis; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
___ Helen Weaver, 94, in Fort Worth. She ministered for 76 years through her music in conjunction with her pastor-husband, J.A. Weaver, in several Texas churches and five other states. Their final staff position was at North Richland Hills Church in North Richland Hills, where they served for more than 20 years as directors of nursing home ministries. Her final music concert was last spring at the age of 93 at Shady Grove Church in North Richland Hills, where her son, Bill, is pastor. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987. She is survived by two daughters, one son, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
___ John Courson, 73, Dec. 14 in Houston. He served as a minister of music in West Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia and Texas. He is survived by his former wife, Pauliett Powell; and sister, Janean Sherwin.
