Viet_baptism
HUYNH THI HOA of Vietnam came to the United States to visit her daughters but met Jesus as well. She made her profession of faith in Christ at the Vietnamese Church in Killeen and was baptized at Pershing Park Church in Killeen. She now has returned to Vietnam, where Christian outreach is very limited. Following her baptism by Pastor Ly Tran, she said, "Now I know where to go after death." She is 81 years old.

___Deaths
___bluebull Lonnie Doyle Jr., 78, Jan. 2 in Tyler. Doyle, an emeritus Southern Baptist missionary to Brazil, was appointed by the SBC Foreign Mission Board in 1949. He served as a general evangelist in Belem, Santarem and Manaus. He also was executive secretary of the state convention of the Amazonas for 29 years. In addition to serving as a pastor, he also helped build more than 40 churches, conducted boat ministry evangelism and was director of a state camp. He retired in 1988. He is survived by his wife, Janelle; daughters, Teegee Thompson, Margaret McNabb and Elizabeth Smith; sons, Robert and David; and 11 grandchildren.
___bluebull James Boyd, 103, Jan. 14 in Harleton. Boyd was an educator, preacher, farmer and rancher. He was chairman of the education department at the College of Marshall from 1929 to 1943, when the school became East Texas Baptist College. He remained chairman of the education department until 1950. He was chairman of the sociology department from 1950 to 1967, and served both institutions as dean of men from 1929 until 1950. Boyd also was pastor of a dozen East Texas churches during almost 60 years of ministry. He was a member of Harleton Church in Harleton, where he was licensed to the ministry in 1921 and ordained in 1926. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lucile; son, James; daughters, Mary Cone, Anna Pope and Nancy Brown; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Modena Owen.
