___ Missions volunteers sought. Veteran partnership missions organizer W.H. Jackson Jr. of Abilene is looking for Texas Baptists to help with evangelistic campaigns in six cities this year. Jackson and his wife, Doris, are in Scandanavia making preparations for campaigns in Oslo, Norway; Stockholm, Sweden; and Alborg, Denmark. Other cities slated for similar campaigns include Paris, London and Tokyo. Ministers, music groups and laity are invited to join in the campaigns. ___ ERLC program nominated. "For Faith & Family," the nationally syndicated radio talk show produced by the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, has been nominated for the Talk Show of the Year Award by the National Religious Broadcasters. The show, hosted by Richard Land, was nominated alongside "Jay Sekulow Live," "Parent Talk with Randy Carlson" and Donald Cole and Wayne Shepherd's "Open Line." A winner will be announced in February.
___ Hudson dies. Lofton Hudson died Jan. 9 in Bedford. He was 91. Hudson was considered the father of pastoral counseling, having founded the first independent Christian counseling center in the United States in Kansas City, Mo., in 1957. He was a leader in the Southern Baptist community, conducting family life conferences across the nation, writing 22 books and 500 articles and serving as pastor of churches in Tennessee, Oklahoma and Missouri. Recently, he has been a member ofBroadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
___ Southwestern names news director. Gregory Tomlin, 30, has been named news director for Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. A native of North Little Rock, Ark., Tomlin is a doctoral student at Southwestern. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and worked as a corporate writer at National Medical Systems before coming to Southwestern in 1995.
___ Sacred Harp Sing planned. Hymns from the 18th and 19th centuries sung a cappella will be the music of choice at the 18th annual Sacred Harp Sing at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth Jan. 26. The annual event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the rotunda of Cowden Hall. Admission is free. An optional catered barbecue luncheon is $10 per person. ___ True Love Waits event to be broadcast. FamilyNet will broadcast "Seize the Net Goes Live" Feb. 13 from Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth. The satellite rally is a national celebration of the True Love Waits movement, which promotes sexual purity among teens. The event joins together student rallies across the country in an annual time of commitment to abstinence before marriage.
