___ Red Cross recognizes Baptists. Southern Baptist disaster relief efforts have won the recognition of the American Red Cross through the organization's Agency Partnership Award, presented to the North American Mission Board on behalf of disaster relief volunteers nationwide. The nationwide network of more than 24,000 volunteers operates through units sponsored by state Baptist conventions and Baptist associations. The award was accepted by Mickey Caison, manager of adult volunteers for NAMB and national Southern Baptist disaster relief coordinator. Since 1995, Southern Baptists have responded with Red Cross in more than 500 relief efforts.
___ Conference center managers named. General managers are now in place at both Ridgecrest and Glorieta conference centers operated by LifeWay Christian Resources. Bill Bowman, 48, who has been at Ridgecrest for five years, was promoted to general manager there. Rick Tanner, who worked the past seven years for Presentation Services, one of the country's largest providers of audio-visual service to the hotel/convention industry, has been named general manager at Glorieta. The positions were redefined in a recent LifeWay restructuring.
___ Valentine's parties planned. LifeWay Christian Stores in Texas will host Valentine's Day parties for young children Saturday, Feb. 9, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. LifeWay stores are located in Arlington, Austin, Conroe, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, Webster, Katy, Longview, Lubbock, North Richland Hills, Plano, San Antonio, Tyler and Temple. In addition to a free Peek-a-Bible Little Lamb book to the first 100 children at each store, many other prizes and giveaways will be provided.
