Four artists lead in Dove Award nods ___NASHVILLE, Tenn. (RNS)--Four Christian artists have been nominated eight times each for honors at the Dove Awards. ___Steven Curtis Chapman, Toby McKeehan, Nicole C. Mullen and Rebecca St. James each received the top number of nominations. Other leading nominees were Michael W. Smith with seven nominations, Third Day with six and Kirk Franklin among the artists receiving five mentions. ___The nominations were announced Jan. 23 in Nashville, Tenn., ahead of the ceremony to be held in that city April 25. ___Nominations include: ___ Artist of the Year: Steven Curtis Chapman, Nicole C. Mullen, P.O.D., Michael W. Smith, Third Day. ___ Female Vocalist of the Year: Natalie Grant, Nicole C. Mullen, Nichole Nordeman, Rebecca St. James, CeCe Winans. ___ Male Vocalist of the Year: Steven Curtis Chapman, David Phelps, Mac Powell, Mark Schultz, Michael W. Smith. ___ New Artist of the Year: Downhere, Sara Groves, Shaun Groves, Joy Williams, Zoegirl. ___ Group of the Year: Avalon, P.O.D., Point of Grace, Selah, Third Day. ___ Song of the Year: "Above All," "Alive," "Call on Jesus," "God is God," "God of Wonders," "I Can Only Imagine," "Live Out Loud," "Press on," "Wait for Me," "Welcome Home."
