Seven Texans named to IMB missionary team
___Seven Texans were among 63 people appointed as missionaries by the Southern Baptist Convention International Mission Board Jan. 22.
___Roy and Doris Burson will return to Southeast Asia, where they have been serving for the last two years with International Service Corps, a missions program through the IMB. He will continue as pastor of an international church there, while she participates in prison ministry and community outreach. Prior to their mission service, Burson was pastor of Fairview Church in Mineral Wells. They live in Haltom City and are members of North Richland Hills Church in North Richland Hills. They have two grown children, James and Timothy.
___Kris and Frances Courson will serve as church planters among the deaf in Russia. Since 1996, Courson has been missions pastor of Silent Friends Chapel of First Church in Dallas. The Coursons previously worked with Deaf Opportunity Outreach through the North American Mission Board to help plant a church for the deaf in El Paso. The Coursons count First Church in Dallas, Immanuel Church in El Paso and Woodhaven Deaf Church in Houston as influential in their lives. They have four children, Kristen, Rose, Robert and James.
___Hannah Potter will serve in Eastern Europe with her husband, Benjie, who has been serving with the IMB in Central Asia. She will conduct outreach through her church and home as they minister among an unreached people group. Previously, she served in North Africa with the International Service Corps. She currently lives in Palestine and is a member of First Church in Benbrook. She also considers First Church in Palestine as influential in her life. The Potters have one daughter, Joanna.
___Allen and Alice Stickney are returning to familiar territory to serve as student evangelists and disciplers in Kenya. They will be involved in discipleship at Nairobi and Edgerton University and other post-secondary institutions there. They also will recruit and train new student missionary workers. The Stickneys have worked in Kenya more than 14 years with the IMB. In 1971, they went to Nairobi and served until 1975. They returned in 1978 and served another eight years. They returned once again in 2000 with the International Service Corps. The Stickneys live in Plano and are members of The Heights Church in Richardson. They also consider Park Cities Church in Dallas as influential in their lives. They have two adult children, Aprile and Thomas.
