___ First Church in Center will be the site of the Joy Seekers Conference for Women March 1-2. Kathy Nelson, a Bible teacher for more than 20 years and an active conference leader, will be the featured speaker. The conference theme will be "If the Shoe Fits" and Nelson will speak on finding the perfect fit. Michelle Bauer will lead the music, with Amy Frazer and Joyce Funderburk bringing special music. ___Deaths
___ Lois Childers, 88, Jan. 20 in San Antonio. She earned a teacher's certificate at Mary Hardin-Baylor University during the Depression and later taught at Ozona High School. She also taught the Victory Bible class at Trinity Church in San Antonio for more than 20 years. Her husband, Clyde, served Hardin-Simmons University as vice-president for development and was director of development for Baptist Memorial Hospital System in San Antonio prior to his retirement. She is survived by her husband of 66 years; and her sister, Mona Kinslow.
___ Helen Jo Callaway, 83, Jan. 29 in Round Rock. Her husband, Noel, was head of Hardin-Simmons University's criminal justice program prior to his retirement in 1980. She was active in the HSU Roundtable and First Church in Abilene. She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her sons, James and William; and daughters, Helen Weaver and Coby Ann Barkley.
