___bluebull Panhandle conference set. Atheist-turned-evangelist Frank Harber and Christian author T.W. Hunt will be the featured presenters during the 81st annual Panhandle-Plains Pastor's and Laymen's Conference Feb. 18-19 at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview. The theme for the two-day conference, the longest running conference of its kind, is "Walking With God," based on Psalm 2:11. All events are free and open to the public. ___bluebull Student leaders meet. More than 200 college students gathered at Dallas Baptist University Jan. 23-25 for the annual conference of the Christian Association of Student Leaders. The students came from seven Texas Baptist universities, as well as Baptist schools in Missouri, Louisiana and Georgia, according to Bob Cavin, director of the Texas Baptist Leadership Center, which co-sponsors the conference with the Baptist General Convention of Texas institutional ministries section. Vicki Mata, a student at DBU, was last year's president and presided at the conference. John Borum, from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, was elected president, and his school will host the conference Jan. 23-25, 2003.
___bluebull UMHB trustees approve budget and rates. University of Mary Hardin-Baylor trustees unanimously approved a $31.68 million budget for the 2002-2003 fiscal year at their February meeting. The budget calls for a $25 per hour tuition increase, which will bring undergraduate students' cost to $325 per credit hour and graduate students to $345 per credit hour. Fees will not increase, but there will be a slight increase in room rates. Trustees also heard a proposal for a new campus master plan.
___bluebull Baylor enrollment on the rise. Baylor University enrolled 13,465 students for the spring semester, an increase of 497 over the previous spring. This spring's enrollment includes 11,473 undergraduates, 1,202 graduate students, 298 students in Truett Theological Seminary and 399 students in the Law School.
___bluebull Husky Preview coming. Houston Baptist University will offer a Husky Preview weekend March 22-23 for high school students and their parents. The weekend includes a Friday night dinner with students, faculty and staff, followed by mock college lectures Saturday morning, along with information sessions on housing, spiritual life, financial aid and campus life. ___bluebull ETBU plans Tiger Day. Prospective students are invited to attend Tiger Day at East Texas Baptist University March 2. The event offers information about campus clubs and organizations, financial aid, athletics and ministry opportunities. Prospective students and families will visit with current students and professors and will tour the campus. ___bluebull Younger at HSU. Brett Younger, pastor of Broadway Baptist Church of Fort Worth, will speak at Hardin-Simmons University's Cornerstone Series Feb. 19-21. Younger will speak Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. and Wednesday at 9:40 a.m. All services will be held in Behrens Chapel. The Cornerstone Series, a sequence of Bible lectures, is presented to help perpetuate the ideals set forth in the foundation agreement of Simmons College, now HSU.
