___Retiring
___ Bryan Ross as pastor of Tennyson Church in Tennyson, after serving 11 years. Previously, he was pastor of five Texas Baptist churches and was director of missions for Big Spring-San Angelo Baptist Area for 21 years.
___Deaths
___ Ray Mayfield, 75, Feb. 5 in Houston. A retired pastor, he had served a number of churches, including Pecan Grove Church in Oglesby, First Church in Moody, First Church in Goldthwaite and First Church in Conroe. Additionally, he served as interim pastor of 22 churches in Houston from 1963 to 1994. Mayfield also was on the committee that selected the site for Houston Baptist College, now Houston Baptist University, and was one of the school's founders and original trustees. He later joined the university's staff as assistant to the president for church relations. At the time of his retirement, his responsibilities were as vice president for development and planned giving. He was a member of Second Church in Houston. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dana Mayfield. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nita; daughter, Mary Mayfield; sons, Ray and John; and sister, Sunny Allcorn.
