Texas Baptists called to prepare for Billy Graham's Metroplex Mission

___DALLAS--Preparation for the Metroplex Mission with Billy Graham began in earnest last week as church leaders attended information seminars throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
___Fifteen identical meetings were held to give pastors and church leaders information to begin preparations for the Oct. 17-20 event at Texas Stadium in Irving. The seminars outlined upcoming ministries and opportunities for involvement.
___Pastors were asked to assemble a leadership team consisting of a congregational leader, a children's leader, a counseling and follow-up leader, a mission project leader and a student leader.

Buckner ships 14,000 pairs of shoes to children in Afghan refugee camp
___DALLAS--More than 14,000 pairs of new shoes and 6,400 pairs of socks are headed to the largest refugee camp in Afghanistan through a partnership between Buckner Orphan Care International and Feed the Children.
___The humanitarian aid shipment, collected through the Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls project, was loaded into a shipping container Feb. 18 headed for Herat, Afghanistan, home to 30,000 refugees.

Texas Baptist Men board deliberates relationship to alternative convention

___AQUILLA--The Texas Baptist Men board of directors has allowed a proposed working relationship between the men's missions organization and the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention to be tabled "until the Father himself lifts it off" the table.
___The board had wrestled for two years with the question of how Texas Baptist Men could serve all the Baptist men in Texas--those in churches affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas and those in the SBTC.
