FIRST CHURCH in Troup recently broke ground for a new 20,000-square-foot multipurpose building. The 135-year-old church is relocating to a 48-acre site with highway frontage. The building committee is comprised of (l-r) Carl McEver, Charles Sowders, Pastor James Cheatham, Karen Agnew, Dan Riggs, Greg Evans and Joe Layne. The building is expected to be completed by year's end. A United We Build campaign raised pledges three times the annual budget. A one-day offering of $350,000 was received to begin the three-year giving cycle.

___ Mildred Graham, Feb. 23 in Blowing Rock, N.C. She was the widow of George Graham, former executive vice president and interim president of Hardin-Simmons University in 1962-1963. The Grahams were active in First Church in Abilene, and he was a member of the city council. She was a past president of the Hardin-Simmons Roundtable. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Ray and two grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Sheretz; adopted son, Pat Sullivan, and five grandchildren.
