Baylor to launch Honors College ___WACO--Baylor University will open an Honors College June 1. ___University regents approved Baylor's 10th academic unit in their winter meeting Feb. 22. ___The new college will be located in Morrison Constitution Hall, which previously housed the Baylor Law School. Regents approved a $2.5 million renovation of the 59,000-square-foot building, which also will house other academic departments and offices. ___Baylor has operated an honors program for 53 years. The new Honors College, however, will combine the honors program with the University Scholars program, Baylor Interdisciplinary Core and a proposed Great Texts program to create a distinct unit for highly motivated students. ___The Honors College also will include a office of national and international scholarships, which will assist Baylor students in applying for Rhodes, Fulbright, Marshall, Truman, Goldwater, Rotary and other prestigious scholarships. ___Baylor will conduct a national search for a dean of the Honors College.
