FIRST CHURCH in Alpine recently honored Pastor Philip McCraw on his 10th anniversary. Brent Freeland presented a plaque and a gift from the church. McCraw is the longest-tenured pastor in the church's 109-year history. Also pictured is McCraw's wife, Colleen.

___Deaths
___bluebull Phil Harris, 89, March 16 in Nashville, Tenn. Harris was director of the Training Union department of the Southern Baptist Covention Sunday School Board from 1960 to 1977. He was a professor of youth religious education at Southwestern Seminary from 1949 to 1959. After retirement, he did missionary work in Brazil, Argentina, Taiwan, Hong Kong and 10 European countries. His wife of 59 years, Mariam, preceded him in death by one month. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Harris; sons, Joseph and James; a sister and two grandchildren.

___bluebull The Blackwood Gospel Quartet will perform at First Church in Liberty April 3 at 6:15 p.m. There will be no admission charge, but a love offering will be taken. Jerry Johnson is pastor.
___bluebull Cherokee Church in Cherokee will hold a dedication service for its recently completed debt-free worship center April 7 at 1 p.m. A luncheon will precede the dedication. Don Henderson is pastor.
___bluebull The music group Crimson, gospel soloist Linda Dunn and baritone Karl Dunn will be in concert at Living Faith Church in Austin April 14. Walter Kruse is pastor.
___bluebull Calvin Miller, noted author, poet, pastor and theologian, will be the guest speaker at First Church in Arlington April 14. He will speak at 9 and 10:30 a.m. and at 6 p.m. There will be a time of discussion and information for parents of small children at 4 p.m. Dennis Wiles is pastor.
___bluebull Ken Hemphill, president of Southwestern Seminary, will speak at Spring Creek Church in Weatherford at 6 p.m. April 28. Mike Martin is pastor.
