TOGETHER:
Hall: God's blessing on Texas Baptists

___No one can measure all that Roger Hall has done for good and for God in Texas. We give thanks for his extraordinary impact on the Baptist General Convention of Texas as treasurer and chief financial officer these past 18 1/2 years.
___Roger was serving the Lord in his home state of Missouri when Executive Director Bill Pinson invited him to assume the responsibility of caring for the BGCT's financial resources. Roger gave trustworthy and expert guidance to managing mission monies to start new churches, support institutions and do mission work in Texas and around the world. During his tenure, financial audits of our convention have been unfailingly of the highest order. Convention assets have grown 215.6 percent under

his careful guidance. The testimonies of all who have worked with him on hundreds of projects give evidence of his skill and integrity.
___One tangible reminder of Roger Hall's careful management and stewardship of resources is at 333 North Washington in Dallas. In the mid-1980s, he worked closely with Dallas laymen Dewey Presley and Fred Roach and others to negotiate the relocation of the Baptist Building from downtown Dallas to a site near Baylor Medical Center. The BGCT was able to sell the older building for the highest price per-square-foot paid for any downtown Dallas property up to that time. With the support and cooperation of the Baylor Health Care System, the BGCT was able to build a beautiful and functional four-story building with underground parking. And the project was completed under budget--without spending any Cooperative Program mission dollars.
___Roger is justly proud of that achievement. But he is most grateful for the opportunities Texas Baptists have given him to make a difference in local churches, in the life of our institutions and in the development of myriad ministries that have touched and changed lives in Jesus' name. He has helped countless institutions, new initiatives and ministries get started or weather difficult times. He has the heart of a minister, the head of a financial expert, the dependability of a Baptist deacon and the passion of a missionary. He has been, and will continue to be, an obedient servant of our Lord Jesus Christ.
___Texas Baptists have been blessed of God to have Roger Hall serve alongside us. He and his wife, Donna, have given generously of their time, strength and personal resources to help make our work the strongest among all state conventions. They have loved and befriended hundreds of young pastors and new churches. Now we ask God to give them many years of service to the kingdom of God in this new season of their lives.
___The task of finding the right person to be our new CFO is challenging and crucial. We are interviewing people and, God willing, I hope we can make a decision within the next two months. In the meantime, I have asked Randy Reid, controller and assistant treasurer, and Bill Tinsley, associate executive director, to cover the CFO responsibilities. Randy Reid will have the interim responsibilities for financial management, budget development and building/support services. Bill Tinsley will have interim responsibilities for information services, Texas Baptist Missions Foundation, Cooperative Program services, and the Texas Baptist Historical Collection and Center.
___Please pray for them as they take on these tasks and for me as we seek the person God has for us as our next CFO.
___Pray for the lost.
