___ Baylor names religion chair. Randall O'Brien has been named chairman of the religion department at Baylor University. He succeeds William Brackney, who has resigned the chairmanship but will continue as a faculty member. O'Brien has been a member of the religion faculty since 1991 and served as acting chairman in 1998 and 1999. He and his wife, Kay, are members of Calvary Baptist Church in Waco. Currently, O'Brien is interim pastor at So
uth Main Baptist Church in Houston.
___ Courses offered. The Hispanic Baptist Theological School in San Antonio has announced its 2002 Center for Cultural and Language Studies. The summer session will be June 17-28, and the fall session Oct. 14-18. Members of churches and missions affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas receive a full-tuition scholarship. ___ ETBU names Wickham. East Texas Baptist has named Larry Wickham director of development. Wickham, of Tyler, has been a bivocational pastor and comes to ETBU from Midway Baptist Church in Tyler. He is a graduate of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and done additional study at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
___ Hillcrest accredited. Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco has been accredited by the Texas Medical Association as an intrastate continuing medical education provider. Hillcrest is the first hospital in Waco to receive this accreditation for physician education.
___ ETBU students serve in Florida. East Texas Baptist University's Baptist Student Ministries sent 52 students on a "Trinity Tour" throughout the Daytona Beach, Fla., area during spring break. One group of 17 students was sent to Daytona Beach to participate in "Beach Reach" activities. Twenty-one BSM students also were stationed at Delaney Street Baptist Church to work with the Greater Orlando Habitat for Humanity affiliate. A third group of 14 students served at the parsonage at First Baptist Church of Lake Buena Vista, Fla., directly behind Walt Disney World.
___ Logsdon offers conference. Logsdon School of Theology at Hardin-Simmons University will offer an "Exploring Your Call to Ministry" conference April 11-12 from noon to noon.
