___bluebull Charlene Strickland, Julie Goodenough and Jimmie Keeling were honored at Hardin-Simmons University's faculty- staff appreciation dinner recently. Strickland, assistant professor of communication, was named faculty member of the year. Goodenough, assistant athletic director and head women's basketball coach until recently being named head women's basketball coach at Oklahoma State University, and Keeling, head football coach, were named staff members of the year.

___bluebull Glenn Meredith, 20th, as pastor of Midway Road Church in Dallas, Feb. 21. The church will celebrate the occassion May 17-19 with a pig roast for men on Friday, a tea honoring his wife and daughter on Saturday and an all-church dinner on Sunday.

___Retiring
___bluebull Fred Neyland, as director of church services for Collin Association. Neyland has served the association for seven years and has been in ministry 41 years. A reception will be held June 13 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the association office.

___Death
___bluebull Joseph McClain, 82, May 3 in Brownwood. McClain was dean of the School of Christianity at Howard Payne University until his retirement in 1984 and previously served on the faculty of Ouachita University, Golden Gate Seminary, Midwestern Seminary and Texas Tech University. He also was a pastor of several churches in Missouri, North Carolina and Texas, including Riverside Church in Riverside, First churches in Seagraves, Ranger, Gorman and DeLeon. He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Cleo; sons, Joseph, Duke, Bill and Ray; daughter, Darla Fletcher; brothers, Curtis and Ross; sister, Myrtle Wieneke; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

___bluebull The "baptist church of Driftwood" has erected its first building after 90 years of worshipping with the Methodist church. The church is celebrating the beginning of its new ministry with evening services led by those who have helped it achieve its own facilities--First Church of Austin, Bob Craig of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, Woodlawn Church of Austin, Austin Association Director of Missions David Smith, Dan Stephans of First Church in Wimberley and Pastor Joe Trull. The church has met in a community center for the past year and has grown from 15 members to 38 and has baptized 15 people during that time.
___bluebull The Hispanic Fellowship of Lewisville will hold its inaugural meeting at Orchard Road Church in Lewisville May 26. The sponsor church is devoting its entire Sunday morning worship time to celebrating the launch of the new work. A luncheon will follow. Jerry Rogers is pastor of Orchard Road Church.
