___Anniversaries
___bluebull Lee Walker, 30th, in service to San Jacinto Association. For the last 25 years, Walker has served out of the associational office--12 years as associate director of missions and 13 as director of mission. He was minister of music of Wooster Church in Baytown the five previous years.
___bluebull David McDurham, fifth, as minister to college students at First Church in Arlington April 7.
___bluebull First Church in Milano, 120th, April 21. Former pastor Joe Stansell was the guest preacher. Charles Cole is pastor.

___Deaths
___bluebull Estelle Newman, 90, April 13 in San Angelo. Her late husband, Guy, was a former pastor and president of Howard Payne University. She was a member of First Church in San Angelo. In addition to her husband, she also was preceded in death by her son, Guy Jr., and daughter, Charlotte Harris. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Garner and Bobbie Kaye Strickland; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
___bluebull Paul Appleby, 58, April 17 in Houston. Appleby was assistant pastor at First Church in Paris. An avid bicyclist, Appleby was participating in a Senior Games bicycle race when on the last lap of a training ride, his bicycle struck and locked up with another cyclist. He was thrown forward and sustained head injuries. Surgery was performed to remove a blood clot, but he did not regain consciousness. Appleby left a career as a nuclear engineer to enter the ministry in 1993. He had served the Paris congregation since 1994. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters, Cindy Brown and Shelly Phillips; five grandchildren; brother, Joe Appleby; and sisters, Anna Marie Cannon and Sherry Welch.

___Retiring
___bluebull David Rowland as associate pastor of First Church in College Station after 36 years of ministry. A reception will be held May 16 from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Baptist Student Ministry building at Texas A&M University. A church dinner and concert will take place May 19 at 6 p.m. Reservations are required and may by made at (979) 696-7000.
___bluebull Bob Woods as pastor of First Church in Granbury June 3. His last Sunday to preach will be May 19.

___bluebull Tallowood Church in Houston honored 120 couples who have been married 50 years or more May 5. Sixty-three of the couples have been married more than 55 years, and the longest is 72 years. Duane Brooks is pastor.
