___By Ken Camp
___Texas Baptist Communications
___Christian Mission Concerns is making available to the Baptist General Convention of Texas a $10,000 matching challenge grant for Scripture distribution along the Rio Grande.
___If the challenge is met, $20,000 will enable Texas Baptists to purchase more than 130,000 Spanish-language editions of the Gospel of John--enough to complete the Gospel Saturation Project in Piedras Negras, Acuna and Morales and beyond, according to Dexton Shores, director of BGCT River Ministry.
___The Gospel Saturation Project originated as part of the centennial celebration at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Piedras Negras, Shores said. So far, volunteers have distributed New Testaments or Gospels in more than 15,000 of the 42,000 homes in Piedras Negras, and the project has spread to other cities in Mexico.
___Texas Baptist volunteers have worked through River Ministry to join local Mexican Baptist churches in distributing Scripture portions.
___Christian Mission Concerns, the source of the matching grant, is a Tennessee-based foundation that has assisted other BGCT-related ministries in the past, according to Bill Arnold, president of the Texas Baptist Missions Foundation.
___July 31 is the target date for reaching the $10,000 goal to maximize the challenge grant. Designated gifts for the Gospel Saturation Project may be directed to the Texas Baptist Missions Foundation at 333 N. Washington, Dallas 75246-1798.
