___ Scholarship aids female science students. Female students in the fields of science and mathematics will benefit from anew scholarship at Hardin-Simmons University. The Mary Parilee Porter Nelson Memorial Endowed Scholarship has been established by Sue Sprague, an attorney and associate general counsel at the Fannie Mae Foundation in Washington, D.C., in memory of her mother, a 1926 graduate of what was then called Simmons College.
___ Baylor Medical opens heart hospital. Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas has opened a new heart and vascular hospital, named for Jack and Jane Hamilton. The facility is the only North Texas hospital dedicated solely to treatment of heart and vascular patients. The 176,000-square-foot hospital houses a 50-bed specialty care unit, four operating suites, various labs and recovery units and a community resource center.
