___ Marge Frankie recently was honored as Dallas Baptist University's staff member of the year. In addition to her plaque, she was awarded a trip to anywhere in the world she wants to go. She chose an Alaskan cruise. She has been an employee of the university for more than 32 years.
___ Wayne Dorothy will join the Hardin-Simmons University School of Music faculty as associate professor of music and director of bands for the coming school year.
___ Two Texans recently completed course studies at New Orleans Seminary. Kerry Anthony received the certificate in women's ministry and certificate in advanced women's ministry. Her home congregation is Amelia Church in Beaumont. Michael Goodman received the doctor of ministry degree in leadership/missions. He was the Baptist Student Ministries director at Dallas Baptist University before leaving earlier in the year to serve as a missionary in Scotland. Yorktown Church in Corpus Christi is his home congregation.

___ Fellowship Church in Grapevine recently opened a new $16 million facility. The 80,000-square-foot Creative Communications Center will house worship facilities for children ages 6-11 and a new chapel. Ed Young is pastor.

___ Larry and Freida Sinclair will conduct chalk art and ventriloquism classes at Spicewood Church in Spicewood Aug. 1-3. The schedule will be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday; 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday. The chalk art class will cost $165, and the ventriloquism class $70. A $25 deposit is required for each student so that preparation can be made and students alerted to what materials they need to bring to class. ___ Green Acres Church in Tyler will hold a Bibleman Festival Aug. 2. Bibleman is a superhero character played by Willie Ames of "Eight is Enough" fame. Bibleman defeats evil using God's word. A concert will begin the activities at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m., activities move to the parking lot for free rides, games, autographs, candy and balloons. ___ A clowning workshop will be held Aug. 6 at Woodridge Church in Kingwood from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. Balloon skills will be the focus, and all participants are asked to bring their own balloon pump or be prepared to buy one at the workshop. "Balloon Jam!" will be led by Terri "Happy Heart" Stokes, a national award-winning balloon artist and clown. Registration is $10 and is for ages 10 and older. Younger children are requested not to attend. Registrants will receive a pack of balloons, two slices of pizza and a drink.
