___ Essie Mae Maston, June 26 in Fort Worth at age 103. Born Essie Mae McDonald Sept. 6, 1898, in Chattanooga, Tenn., she was a graduate of Carson-Newman College and Southwestern Seminary. In 1921, she married T.B. Maston, who became a pioneering Baptist in the field of Christian ethics. They were married 66 years, until his death in 1988. She also taught at Southwestern Seminary until returning full-time to the home to care for their first child, Thomas McDonald Maston, who suffered trauma at birth. Tom Mac, as he was known, died in 1987. Mrs. Maston was a member of Gambrell Street Church in Fort Worth for 82 years. She taught virtually every age level in the church's religious education program. She is survived by one son, Gene, who lives in New York City. A memorial service was held June 29 at Gambrell Street Church.
___ Fred Delshaw, 92, June 2 in San Antonio. He was a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force 27 years. A memorial service was held at the Air Force Village Chapel. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, and two daughters, Sandra Warden of Tulsa, Okla., and Linda Gilliam of Zephyr Hills, Fla.
___ Edward Burke, 85, at Baptist Memorial Center in San Angelo June 12. Born Aug. 8, 1916, in Cherokee, he was ordained to the ministry in 1947 at First Church of Brady. He served North Brady Mission, First Church of Flat, South Prong Church in Waxahachie and churches in Louisiana. He later served as a director of associational missions in Mississippi. He was a graduate of New Orleans Seminary. He had lived in San Angelo since 1985 and was a member of Paul Ann Church. Burke was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie, in 1994, as well as a brother and two sisters. He is survived by three sons, Porter Burke of Wiggins, Miss., John Burke of Greenville, Miss., and Robert Burke of Yates Center, Kan.; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Latham and Alice Deneise Woolsey of San Angelo; two sisters, Kathleen Kufhal of Buellton, Calif., and Alice Ruth Millican of Decatur; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
