___Deaths
___bluebull Curtis Wilson, 27, July 29 in Dallas. Wilson, youth minister at Ferndale Church in Dallas, was killed in a traffic accident in Frisco. Police reports indicate a second vehicle in the accident ran a red light and hit Wilson's vehicle. Wilson was on a short trip to the grocery store. When he didn't return, his wife tried his cell phone and then retraced his route, discovering the

ASHLEY MARRIOTT was one of a team of volunteer missionaries organized by First Church in Georgetown that traveled to Acuna, Mexico. She worked with children in the 3 to 5-year-old Vacation Bible School class. Fifty-one people from 13 Texas churches worked with Templo El Calvario in Acuna and its pastor, Margarito Acosta. Ministries included not only VBS, but also three days of medical clinics, prayerwalking and saturation distribution of the Gospel of John. A fourth day of VBS and medical work was done at Santa Eulalia, a colonia outside Acuna. Average VBS attendance was 146, and 356 people were treated at the medical clinic. Ten people made professions of faith in Jesus Christ during the week. This is the 10th year the Georgetown Church has ministered to Acuna in conjunction with the Texas River Ministry.
accident and finding out her husband had been airlifted to a Dallas hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. At a Wednesday night prayer meeting at the church following the accident, members recalled his longtime devotion to inner-city youth and his zeal for evangelism. He and his wife, Demaris, also directed and taught the children's church each Sunday. He is survived by his wife; 3-year-old son, Ethan; his unborn daughter; and his father, Reuel Wilson.
___bluebull Meredith Hair, 67, July 29 in Deer Park. Hair pastored churches in Texas and Louisiana beginning in 1954, including 18 years at South Avenue Church in Pasadena, prior to his retirement in March 2000. He was a member of First Church in Deer Park. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia, in 1988. He is survived by his wife, Wanda; sons, Jim and John; daughter, Jody Ainsworth; father, James; sister, Jan Armstrong; three stepchildren; 12 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

___bluebull A street revival was held Aug. 9 on the square in Centerville. Music and tag-team preaching from a number of pastors highlighted the evening. While reports for this event were not available at press time, a previous street revival at an apartment complex in the community saw 12 professions of faith.

___Retiring
___bluebull Dillard Whitis, as dean of Wayland Baptist University's San Antonio campus. Whitis has served in San Antonio since, 1987, but began working with Wayland in 1983 on the Amarillo campus. During his tenure in San Antonio, Whitis directed the move of the campus from First Church to a new 33,000-square-foot facility owned by Wayland. The date of his retirement has not been determined.
