BROADWAY BAPTIST CHURCH of Fort Worth, in partnership with Buckner Children & Family Services, distributed free school uniforms to 250 children Aug. 6-8. The children are members of about 90 families that fall below federal poverty guidelines, said Sheri Jamieson, coordinator for the Broadway/Buckner Baptist Center at the church. Among the items distributed to each child were new uniforms, underwear, socks and a hygiene kit. Each child also received a pair of new shoes courtesy of Buckner Orphan Care International's Shoes for Orphan Souls.

______ Bush meets at Baylor. President George W. Bush will hold an economic forum at Baylor University Aug. 13, bringing together government policy makers, business leaders, workers, economists, ethicists and others to discuss the fundamentals of the economy and the president's agenda to increase economic growth for the future. In addition to providing facilities for the forum, Baylor business school faculty and students will participate in breakout sessions and President Robert Sloan will welcome participants to the campus on behalf of the university.
___ UMHB names religion chair. William D.M. Carrell has been named chairman of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor religion department. Carrell received his bachelor of arts degree from Baylor University, the master of divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., and a doctor of philosophy degree in historical theology, systematic theology and Christian ethics from Baylor University. Carrell most recently served as vice president for academic services and associate professor of Christian studies at Bluefield College in Bluefield, W. Va.
