___bluebull Studio audience needed. FamilyNet Television, a unit of the Southern Baptist Convention's North American Mission Board, seeks a studio audience for taping of a new talk show called "Reality Talks," hosted by psychologist Kevin Leman. The show will focus on family and relationships. A studio audience is needed Sept. 9-12 with tapings from 2:30 to 5 p.m. and from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. The tapings will take place at NAMB's broadcast communications center in Fort Worth. ___bluebull Gregory returns to DBU. Rick Gregory has been named vice president for university advancement at Dallas Baptist University. He returns to DBU after five years as president of Howard Payne University in Brownwood. Previously, Gregory served DBU for seven years as registrar, then as vice president for executive and student affairs.
___bluebull Nurses' reunion planned. Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas plans a nurses' reunion celebration in conjunction with the system's 100th anniversary. Current and former employees of Baylor University Medical Center and graduates of Baylor University Nursing School are invited to the reunion Oct. 4 at the Baylor Tom Landry Park. ___bluebull Hunger resources available. Bread for the World has produced a resource kit for churches to be used in conjunction with fall emphases on hunger, including World Food Day, Oct. 16, and Thanksgiving. The kits may be ordered online at www.bread.org or by calling (800) 82-BREAD.
___bluebull HSU names Williford. Don Williford has been named to a newly created position of associate vice president for academic affairs at Hardin-Simmons University. He will assist Bill Ellis, vice president for academic affairs, on a part-time basis. Williford, an associate professor of New Testament, will continue to teach classes at the university's Logsdon School of Theology.
___bluebull Wiman scholarship established at HSU. An endowed scholarship fund honoring retired Roscoe schoolteacher Ruth Wiman has been established at Hardin-Simmons University by her family, friends and former students. Wiman was born the 11th of 13 children. Despite the trials of the Great Depression, her parents made sacrifices to ensure the education of her and her siblings. In 1934, she and four siblings all were enrolled at Hardin-Simmons simultaneously.
___bluebull Loutherback named assistant v.p. at UMHB. George Loutherback has been named assistant vice president for spiritual life and dean of student organizations at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He will oversee chapel services, Welcome Week, spring revival, Student Government Association and all chartered campus organizations as well as Baptist Student Ministry activities. Prior to this appointment, Loutherback served as dean of student organizations and spiritual life at UMHB. Previously, he served several Texas universities as Baptist Student Ministries director.
___bluebull Schmeltekopf retiring at Baylor. Don Schmeltekopf has announced his retirement as provost at Baylor University, effective May 2003. A tenured professor of philosophy, he will remain at the university to work on a project of leadership development among Christian colleges and universities. He joined the Baylor faculty in 1990 as vice provost, then became provost and vice president for academic affairs in 1991. He previously served in a similar role at Mars Hill College in North Carolina. During his tenure at Baylor, the university has created four new academic divisions, including Truett Seminary and the School of Social Work. President Robert Sloan said Baylor will conduct a national search for Schmeltekopf's replacement but indicated he believes there are some strong internal candidates as well.
