| FIRST CHURCH in Pecan Gap recently honored Coye Reid on her 94th birthday. Reid served the community 38 years as a schoolteacher and has served her church even longer. She has been a member of the church 70 years, serving as pianist 40 years, church clerk for 39 years and as Sunday School teacher to countless children and adults. She is pictured with Orman Rodrick, who presented her with flowers on behalf of the church. Reuben Trussell is pastor. |

___ Naruna Church in Lampasas, 125th, Oct. 12-13. The church was founded as Providence Church and changed to its present name in 1932. A barbecue will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday. There also will be a hayride and music and poems by cowboy singer Jeff Gore. A continental breakfast will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The morning service will be followed by a covered-dish luncheon. ___ Nesbitt Church in Marshall, 50th, Oct. 13. The church had its beginnings in 1947 as a group of students from East Texas Baptist College met in homes. In 1952, the church was formed. Homecoming activities will include a message brought by Lomar Green, leader of the "Mission Band" that began the work in the Nesbitt community in 1947. A catered lunch will follow. ___ The North Central Chapter of the Singing Men of Texas will present a concert at Hillcrest Church in Cedar Hill Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. The program will include selections by the group, its handbell and instrumental ensembles, and a combined choral selection with the choirs of Cedar Heights, Hillcrest and First churches of Cedar Hill, as well as First Church in Midlothian. Don Blackley, minister of music at First Church in Richardson, is director of the group.
