Egge, Hall, Presley and Fletcher honored by BGCT

___DALLAS--Texas Baptists highlighted the depth and durability of their leadership when they honored four legends of missions, ministry and Christian education at the second annual Texas Baptist Heritage Awards banquet Aug. 22 in Dallas.
___The Baptist Distinctives Committee and Texas Baptist Heritage Center of the Baptist General Convention of Texas presented awards to Huis Coy Egge of Friendswood, Roger Hall of Midlothian, Dewey Presley of Dallas and Jesse Fletcher of Abilene.
___Egge, who served as president of Woman's Missionary Union of Texas from 1976 to 1980, received the Mary Hill Davis Texas Missions Award.
___She has been active in missions service at the national, state, associational and local church levels, particularly through WMU. She was a charter member of Broadway Baptist Church in Houston, was a member of First Baptist Church in Corsicana for 19 years, and currently is a member and Women on Missions leader at First Baptist Church of Friendswood.
___Hall, who served more than 18 years as BGCT treasurer and chief financial officer, received the J.B. Gambrell Denominational Service Award.
___Before joining the BGCT staff, Hall served the Missouri Baptist Convention, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo. He retired from the BGCT Executive Board last spring and now is chief financial officer at Dallas Baptist University. He is a deacon at First Baptist Church in Midlothian.
___Presley, a retired banking and business leader who has served on numerous denominational boards and committees, received the Sam Houston Distinguished Leadership Award.
___He has served as chairman of trustees at Baylor University and Baylor University Medical Center, chairman of the BGCT executive director search committee in 1981-1982, and chairman of the facility study committee that led to construction of the Baptist Building in Dallas. He is a longtime Sunday School teacher and deacon at Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas.
___Fletcher, who served Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene as president from 1977 to 1991 and as chancellor from 1991 to 2001, received the George W. Truett Religious Freedom Award.
___Before coming to the university, Fletcher served 15 years as an administrator with the Southern Baptist Convention's Foreign Mission Board and was pastor of First Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tenn. He is a member of First Baptist Church in Abilene.
