___ HSU announces staff. Gracie Carroll has been named associate vice president for advising and retention at Hardin-Simmons University. She previously was director of the Center for Academic Advising. Stacey Martin has assumed the new role of director of undergraduate academic advising, moving from enrollment services, where she was director of admissions.
___ DBU doubles at off-campus center. The Dallas Baptist University North Dallas Center will more than double its facilities for the spring 2003 semester. In one year, enrollment has increased 150 percent, with 360 students taking classes there in the fall 2002 semester. With the expansion of facilities, DBU expects to exceed 500 students at the center. With 67 course offerings, students may complete a variety of degree programs, including the master of business administration, at the North Dallas campus, located at 4120 International Parkway, Suite 1110, north of the George Bush Turnpike near Midway and Park.
___ Branch-Lambert to BGCT staff. Amy Branch-Lambert has joined the staff at the Baptist General Convention of Texas Counseling and Psychological Services Center. She has served as pastoral care consultant for the BGCT on a contract basis since May 2001. She also served as a chaplain in the Methodist Hospitals of Dallas, chaplain for Ann's Haven Hospice and on staff at First Baptist Church in Richardson. Branch-Lambert earned the master of divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1995 and the bachelor of arts degree from Western Kentucky University. She and her husband, Scott, are members of 121 Community Church in Grapevine.
___ Baylor hosts prospective students. High school seniors, transfer students and their parents are invited to visit the Baylor University campus Jan. 24-25 for Winter Premiere, an opportunity to explore the campus, meet students, faculty and staff and get admissions questions answered. ___ Family Camp planned. Mount Lebanon Baptist Encampment in Cedar Hill will hold its first-ever Family Camp March 17-19. Humorists Jeff and Debby McElroy will lead sessions on building family relationships, discipline, communication and spiritual growth. Registration fees include seven meals. ___ Souper Bowl of Caring planned. Texas churches desiring to participate in the national Souper Bowl of Caring emphasis Super Bowl Sunday may find promotional resources online at www.souperbowl.org. The interdenominational appeal calls for youth to volunteer at soup kitchens and food banks on Saturday, Jan. 25, and then collect donations for hunger relief the next day. Each local church may determine where its Souper Bowl donations will be spent--for example, given to the Texas Baptist Hunger Offering or used in a local food ministry.
