Buckner seeks missions volunteers
___The need for missions volunteers to impact the lives of orphan children in other countries never has been greater, said Ashley Barber Warrick, a missions coordinator for Buckner Orphan Care International.
___The Baptist General Convention of Texas agency has "urgent needs for individuals and churches to respond through hands-on missions" in 2003, she said.
___At least three spring missions trips urgently need a response from individuals or church groups, including a March 8-16 Vacation Bible School and construction trip to Guatemala; a March 27-April 6 "Once in a Lifetime Trip" to Russia; and an April 3-14 VBS and medical mission trip to Kenya.
___Slots also are open for church groups on trips to Romania and Russia in June and July.
___Also, Shoes for Orphan Souls teams will take much-needed shoes and other humanitarian aid to four countries beginning next fall. Dates and locations include China, Oct. 9-21; St. Petersburg, Russia, Nov. 13-23; Guatemala, Nov. 7-16; and Romania, Jan. 1-11, 2004.
___An informational meeting on Buckner mission trips will be held Feb. 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas.
___Volunteers on all these trips provide critical care for children living in poor conditions in overseas orphanages, said Mike Douris, vice president for Buckner Orphan Care International.
___"The children have grown to count on a visit by the American teams and the humanitarian aid and love they bring," he said. "These trips are all about the children--the love, the hugs, sharing the gospel with them and reinforcing to them that they are precious in God's eyes."
___Church teams that would like to travel with Buckner this summer but cannot travel on the set dates may contact Buckner for customized service.
___"We will work to make it better fit your schedule," Warwick said. "We need your help and your time through your willingness to travel to an orphanage we serve, to share your love and the love of Christ on one of our mission trips."
