CLC conference sets 'Families of God' theme

___"Families of God" is the theme of the statewide conference of the Texas Baptist Christian Life Commission Feb. 10-11 at First Baptist Church in Austin.
___In a series of plenary sessions and breakout seminars, participants at the 2003 Christian Life Conference will explore the meaning of discipleship within the context of family relationships.
___Renowned preacher James Forbes, senior minister at Riverside Church in New York City, and singer/songwriter Kyle Matthews will present theme interpretations throughout the conference.
___Key plenary speakers are Albert Reyes, president of Hispanic Baptist Theological School in San Antonio; Julie Pennington-Russell, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Waco; and Diana Garland, chair of the School of Social Work and director of the Center for Family and Community Ministries at Baylor University.
___Seminar topics include "Family Communications," "Building Strong Families," "Spiritual Formation in Families," "Family Demographics," "Single Parenting," "Sexual Intimacy in Marriage," "Seniors: Keeping Your Brain Alive," "Pre-/Early Marriage Ministry," "Step-families," "Seniors: The Power of One," "Single Adult Ministry" and "Conflict/Anger Management."
___A legislator breakfast for Texas state representatives and senators is scheduled as a part of the statewide conference, allowing Texas Baptists an opportunity to visit with their elected lawmakers.
___Basic registration cost is $35 per person, which includes dinner on Monday evening and the Tuesday morning legislator breakfast.
___Also offered in conjunction with the conference for an additional $20 fee is a three-part training event, "Resources for Better Marriages," available through the Association of Couples for Marriage Enrichment.
