___Anniversaries
___ Dan Bates, 40th in the ministry, Feb. 12. Bates has been pastor of Heard's Prairie Church near Petteway for more than three years. The church affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas last year in its 127th year of existence. Bates has served churches in Texas, Florida, Alabama and Oklahoma.
___ Buddy Pesch, 15th, as pastor of Priddy Church in Priddy.
MARY HAGAR recently was recognized as a Mission Service Corps emeritus missionary at a service at Columbus Avenue Church in Waco. Hagar served for 17 years alongside her husband, Bailey, prior to his death in 2001. Presenting the award were Sam Pearis, director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas Mission Service Corps department for 23 years prior to his retirement in 2002; Paul Stripling, executive director of missions for Waco Association; and Ron Durham, pastor of Columbus Avenue Church. ___ Billy Rhone, fifth, as pastor of Cundiff Church in Jacksboro.
___ Lone Star Church in Lone Star, 50th, March 15-16. A reception in honor of all former pastors will be held on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Former pastor Steve Kern will preach in the Sunday morning service, followed by an anniversary dinner at Lakeview Assembly. Rick Monds is pastor.

___Death
___ Linda Kay Lyle, 61, Feb. 11 in Plainview. Lyle had served on the board of the Baptist Church Loan Corporation of the BGCT from 1989 until 1994 and began serving again in 1998 and was the current chairman. She also was chairman of the finance committee of First Church in Plainview and active in Woman's Missionary Union there. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Paul; daughter, Leah Kay Gabriel; son, John Paul Lyle; mother, Eula Mae Warren; brother, Jerry Lynn Rogers; and four grandchildren.

___ Northview Church in Floresville recently held a noteburning ceremony in recognition of the retirement of the debt on its facilities. Chuck Jennings is pastor.
___ Milton Ferguson will deliver the annual scholar-in-residence lectures at Calder Church in Beaumont Feb. 16-19. Ferguson taught Christian philosophy for 16 years at Southwestern Seminary and was president of Midwestern Seminary for 24 years. He will lecture on the subject "Christ at the Center: The Gospel According to Paul."
___ The Singing Men of Southeast Texas will be in concert at First Church in Manvel Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.

___ Mayfield Road Church in Arlington will dedicate its new preschool education building Feb. 23. The dedication service and open house will begin at 2:30 p.m., followed by a reception. Bobby Bridges is pastor.
___ First Church in West will dedicate its sanctuary Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. The church last built a sanctuary in 1899, and George Truett preached the dedicatory sermon. In an effort to build on that tradition, Paul Powell, dean of George W. Truett Seminary of Baylor University, will preach the dedicatory sermon for the new building. The dedication service also will kick off a three-day revival in which current Truett students will preach. Prior to the dedication service, a covered-dish luncheon will be held. John Crowder is pastor.
