Blanco Association enters Nuevo Laredo partnership

___Leaders from Blanco Baptist Association and the Northwest Regional Convention of Mexico will work together to meet needs of the churches and people in both areas through 2006.
___A formal agreement outlines the effort to pair an English-speaking church and a Spanish-speaking church from Blanco Baptist Association with every Baptist church in Nuevo Laredo.
___Fourteen Baptist churches and 18 missions in Nuevo Laredo are trying to serve more than 750,000 residents.
___"Sister churches are going to help each other in ways we never dreamed," said Alcides Guajardo, consultant for the Baptist General Convention of Texas partnership missions effort and initiator of the talks.
___Elected leaders from both groups will communicate physical, ministerial and prayer needs in each region, according to the agreement. By making a log of the needs of a region, Texas Baptist leaders said they hope to help every church in the area.
___In exchange, Nuevo Laredo churches will assist Blanco Baptist Association churches through prayer and mission teams that will meet specific Texas requests, the agreement outlines.
___The missions ventures will work in conjunction with the BGCT River Ministry when possible, the agreement states.
___Danny Dunham, director of missions for Blanco Baptist Association, believes the covenant will help further unify the churches in his region.
___"There is a high level of excitement on both sides," he said. "I know our people are excited to see international, hands-on missions so close.
___"There's nothing that unites us like doing God's work together."
