___ Sunrise, sunset at DBU. Dallas Baptist University will present "Fiddler on the Roof" March 20-22 at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Burg Center on campus. Tickets may be obtained by calling (214) 333-5285. Prices range from $5 to $10.
___ HBTS names dean. Javier Elizondo has been elected dean of academic affairs of Hispanic Baptist Theological School in San Antonio. Elizondo is an alumnus of Valley Baptist Academy and holds a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University, a master's degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a doctor of philosophy degree in religion from Baylor University. He has served as Texas Baptist pastor, church starter, curriculum editor and home missionary. Since 2000, he has been dean of student services at HBTS.
___ Sanders scholarship established at HSU. Students preparing for ministry in missions will benefit from a new endowed scholarship at Hardin-Simmons University. Lillian Hoffman Sanders of California established the scholarship in memory of her husband, James, and in appreciation for the financial assistance she received as a student at Hardin-Simmons from 1939 to 1941.
___ Wayland student arrives without bags. James Ledama arrived in Plainview Jan. 11, but his luggage did not. The 22-year-old student from Nairobi, Kenya, came to Wayland Baptist University to participate in track and field and study management information systems. Head track coach Chris Beene helped Ledama obtain replacement clothing and dorm room necessities. The coaching staff at Wayland provided workout clothing and took Ledama to Wal-Mart for toiletries. In a matter of days, other Wayland employees contributed about $500 to help the new student replace lost items.
